“AI as a technology has the potential to change the world”

Dusseldorf Bain has been growing faster than the competition for years. In mid-February, company boss Manny Maceda pulled off a special coup: the management consultancy entered into a cooperation with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. With this so-called service alliance, Bain is clearly positioning itself in the growing segment of artificial intelligence ahead of the numbers one and two in the consulting scene: McKinsey and Boston Consulting.

In an interview with the Handelsblatt, Maceda explains for the first time how the agreement was reached and how the first customer, Coca-Cola, uses this cooperation. The potential for this new technology is “vast,” Maceda said. It could mean “a kind of industrial revolution”.

For Maceda, who has been running Bain since 2018 and wants to become a global leader, artificial intelligence offers great growth potential: “Interest in ChatGPT is greater than anything I’ve seen before,” says the CEO. Everyone was interested: software companies, financial service providers, consumer goods companies, healthcare institutions.
