Prague, September 15, 2023 (PROTEXT) – On Saturday, September 16, the 2nd Czech Athletics Championship for athletes with Down syndrome will take place at the Olymp sports center near Stromovka in Prague. More than 60 athletes registered in several age categories, men and women, will compete in four disciplines: 100 and 200 meters, shot put and long jump.
Competition under the auspices of the director of OLYMP CS MV JUDr. BC. Michal Volf is organized by the Czech Federation of Athletes with Down Syndrome (ČeFeS Down) and the Vyšehrad Vocational School. Among the participants are the current European champions: “Czech athletes won ten medals at the Global Games World Championship in June in France and the SUDS European Championship in Italy in September,” says the president of ČeFeS Down Mgr. Joseph Philippe, “So we hope they will do the same on Saturday at their stadium in Stromovka.”
The championship opening ceremony is at 12:00 p.m., results announced at 4:15 p.m., refreshment at the stadium. More information on the site cefes.cz.
