The LFH, the women’s league of France, has recently published the calendar for the 2023/24 season. What is remarkable before the start of the series at the end of August is that two places are still vacant. Three clubs are waiting for the green light from the licensing committee.

Handnews informs on the unclear situation affecting several elite clubs. Last year’s runner-up Mérignac, newly promoted Stella Saint Maur where Jackie Moreno spent 2022/23 as well as tian Celles-sur-Belle with Hanna Åhlén on the payroll still have things to sort out before the start in the top league is guaranteed.

In the program sent as reviewed by the site there is room for two more unnamed teams.

Thus, it is clear that the DNCG, the decision-making body, will send two of the clubs to the elite and one will end up outside.

According to Handnews, the situation will become clearer from July 24. Then, the DNCG must have taken a position on the finances and the budget of all the parties concerned.

Ranking can also play a role. Celles-sur-Belle sportingly edged out Stella Saint-Maur last season, while Mérignac actually finished in the relegation zone.
