VERSTAPEN, THEN NOTHING – Changing the order of the plugins does not change the result. And even in this “crazy” Dutch GP 2023Of Formula 1 with rain, red flags and reversals chain, the result is unchanged from Max Verstappen dominated winning the most game of a very dominant season. Behind him nothing. The only one who was able to show a great performance today was the two-time world champion Fernando Alonso in Aston Martin which, taking advantage of the mistake of Sergio Perez (Red Bull) a few laps before the end, closed his race in second place. Behind him a revived Pierre Gases with an Alpine that seems to have benefited from all the recent corporate changes. Fourth place for Sergio Perezthat until the mistake on the 63rd lap, when turning gave the green light to Alonso.
FERRARI TO FORGET – For Ferrari we can talk about the worst weekend ever of the season with never competitive car, slow racing pace and a Leclerc unfortunate, but certainly not very clear. Fortunately Carlos made sure to save Ferrari’s honor from Maranello Sainz that finishing fifth makes this weekend’s balance less disastrous. Leclerc, after damaging his car’s wing, could no longer find the pace and eventually retired.
THE CHRONICLE OF THE MATCH – In the departure very reactive Fernando Alonso who wins third place behind Verstappen and Norris. There rain forcing the drivers to return to the pits (all had started on softs except Hamilton who opted for mediums) and this is where Leclerc’s ordeal begins: in fact, the engineers did not have the tires ready and this caused very long pitstop. Sergio Perez took advantage of the situation, who thanks to a sudden entry into the pits took the lead.
In the ninth lap Leclerc, obviously in difficulty because of itdamaged wing, letting Sainz pass, who takes sixth place. Pit stops began on lap 11 for reinstall the dry tires. To benefit from no change of plans it is Verstappen who is first, followed by his teammate Perez. Once in command, the Dutchman sets his ‘usual’ GP pace, extending the gap to Perez to 6 seconds. On lap 42, Leclerc’s test ends and he retires.
On lap 63, due to a mistake caused by the wet track, Perez spun, leaving the track clear for Alonso. A few laps from the end, the marshals, by virtue of heavy rain, they decide to stop the match. At 17.14 the GP restarts with the riders fitting intermediate tyres, but the order of arrival does not change.
