Jonatan Magnusson never had time to work a single day as a new coach at IFK Skövde. The Icelander has to give up the mission due to the club’s financial situation. Instead, Kristian Svensson is acting as head coach with support from Robert Arrhenius next season, Skovde announces on its website.
Skövde introduced Magnusson as a replacement for Henrik Signell just over a month ago. In the work of preparing the budget, the IFK clearly offered other ideas, skipping international reinforcement and trusting the heart of the club in the near future.
Svensson wore the playing shirt at Skövde at the start of 2022/23 and is quickly masking his own future plans as head coach.
– Now this chance appeared a little earlier than expected. Getting the confidence feels very good and with the guys in the ambitious band we’ll do something like a reboot, he says on the club’s website.
Arrhenius ended his active career in 2014 and has since remained in touch with handball through careful work with the linemen of the elite team.
– Having Robban on this trip is very nice and gives a sense of security. We know each other well and it will be easy to work together, says Svensson of his future coaching colleague.
