Sportmania Pilsen offered visitors a unique opportunity to test 80 sports presented by clubs from Pilsen and the Pilsen region. In the area behind the Plaza there were 40 stations available, where sports were alternated every three days. During the three-day cycle, the medals that children under 15 could get by visiting stations, if they collected enough points in a special app, also changed. During Sportmania, the organizers awarded 3,500 bronze, 2,500 silver and 3,500 gold medals.
Many guests were present at the event. Among other recent World Championship medalists for female athletes Tereza Petrzilkova and archer Marie Horackova or skydiving world champions David Drahoninsky and Tereza Brandtlova. There was no shortage of interesting accompanying programs.
“I would like to thank the partners of the biggest sporting event in Pilsen and the representatives of the sports clubs who participated in its organization. Every summer, Sportmania motivates tens of thousands of children and adults to get active. This is not not the only reason why I am sincerely happy that we can look forward to such a high turnout this year. Sportmania has once again achieved its goal, I believe it will maintain its high popularity in the years to come.” said the mayor of Pilsen, Roman Zarzycký.
The weather favored the event this year. “Compared to previous years, we shifted Sportmania by a week and managed to have good weather. The atmosphere throughout the nine days was excellent and I was personally delighted with the interest generated by the major events, for example the Color Run, which nearly 500 people took part in. I am happy that this year’s Sportmania was enjoyed by children and their parents as well as by senior citizens, for whom we had prepared a special programme.” , said Tomáš Morávek, councilor of the city of Pilsen for the area of support for sport, youth and physical education.
