According Norwegian television2 is Janus Smarason leaving Kolstad Håndball. The Icelandic is rumored to be interesting for Magdeburg.
Kolstad Håndball suffered major financial problems and so players and coaches were faced with a decision. Take a pay cut or leave the club. The team’s coach, Christian Berge, confirms that he has accepted a pay cut, but what the players have chosen to do is not yet official.
The one who, on the other hand, is looking to take advantage of the opportunity to leave Kolstad Håndball is Iceland national team player Janus Smarason. The Icelander joined the club last season but is rumored to be on his way to German side Magdeburg.
– A fantastically good handball player and a top player can disappear, and Kolstad’s width becomes noticeably worse. You can see how much he has meant to Kolstad so far, says TV2 Norway handball expert Bent Svele at the newspaper.
The reason Smarason is reportedly set to leave the club is partly because he didn’t take part in Monday’s tests.
According Norwegian television2 the club want to finish negotiations next week.
– The club’s ambition is to complete negotiations with those affected by next week at the latest, writes the club in a press release.
