SPORTS 2023: The schedule of sporting events at a glance

The turning point of this year traditionally belongs to the World Under-20 Hockey Championship. And the beginning was not bad at all for Czech sport, because after 18 long years hockey youth won a medal in the form of silver metal. In the final in overtime, they lost to Canada 2:3.

The second event that launched 2023 with a bang is the famous Dakar Rally. This continues until mid-January. The biathlon season is also halfway through and culminates with the World Championships in Oberhof in February. Biathletes will then complete their SP series in the third week of March. This month sees the start of Formula 1, MotoGP and the first qualifying football matches for EURO 2024.

The fall will include the Basketball World Cup and the Czech Velké Pardubické horse races. The qualifying matches for participation in the soccer EURO will continue and the MotoGP and Formula 1 seasons will traditionally be at their peak. At the end of the year, the women’s floorball championship and the next edition of the under-20 championship will take place.

March 2023 – HME in athletics, peak of SP in biathlon, start of F1 and MotoGP

April 2023 – spring phase of the Champions League, FIFA Women’s and Under-18 World Cup

May 2023 – Hockey World Cup, Giro d’Italia and Roland-Garros

June 2022 – Champions League and EKL finals, European Games and EC U21 football

July 2023 – Famous Tour and Wimbledon

August 2023 – World Championships in Athletics, Climbing and Canoeing and US Open

September 2023 – Spanish Vuelta, Basketball World Cup and qualification for EURO 2024

October 2023 – Velká Pardubice and continued EURO 2024 qualifying

November 2023 – heyday of F1 and MotoGP, start of EHT and SP in biathlon

December 2023 – World Cup in Women’s Floorball and Under-20 Hockey
