Eleven days of sports on the beach of Lipno nad Vltavou are a great opportunity to try new disciplines and discover non-traditional sports. Do you know what kitesurfing, slack line, biketrial, BMX freestyle or parkour mean? Thanks to the eleventh year of the ČEZ Lipno Sport Festival, you will have a unique chance not only to see or try these sports. Individual sports workshops will be led by professionals or qualified instructors. The sports festival is open to all and all programming is free.

In the middle of the week, on Wednesday August 17, it will be possible to take advantage of one of the attractive points of this year’s programme. The Street Sport exhibition will start at 7 p.m., during which visitors who practice street dancing, break dancing, juggling, bmx flatland, beatbox, DJing or Capoeira – a Brazilian martial art that includes elements of acrobatics and dance – will present their art to their visitors. A group of a total of 15 athletes and artists will take care of the whole program. Jakub Dohnal, who specializes in the popular martial arts of MMA, will not be missing among them.

The whole festival will traditionally follow the popular program of previous years for children, adults and families. Children will participate in contests, disco or watch a fairy tale. The famous fox mascot Fox will take care of their entertainment. Every day there is an exercise especially for women. Running enthusiasts will appreciate the running school and the races. Parkour, streetball or slackline and an in-line skating school will easily entertain the younger generation of visitors. This day of the festival will be dedicated to one type of sport this year – we start hiking, football with Dynamo České Budějovice, volleyball, canoeing and dragon boats for modern street sports, swimming and cycling . The program will culminate with the Czech Republic Championships and the Czech and European Whitewater Cup.

“After ten years of the event that we all love, comes the 11th year, which I hope will be a turning point. The Lipno Sport Festival does not only come with a new and, in my opinion, beautiful visual, but visitors will also find a better backdrop for the festival in the form of prefabricated buildings, a fixed refreshment tent and the whole concept of space on the banks of the Lipnon.Thanks to the support of the titular partner of ČEZ , we can also prepare a better program, which will result in a new cycling event that has the ambition to become the highlight of the festival. On the contrary, what does not change is the location of the event and a cooperation closely with the Lipno family compound, ” said the co-founder of the event, Olympic champion and world champion in cross-country skiing Kateřina Neumannova.

ČEZ Around Lipno – the biggest cycling event for everyone

The biggest novelty of this year’s Lipno Sport Festival will be a cycle race and ride with many experienced and famous professionals. During the ČEZ Kolem Lipna race, you will set off on cycle paths around the dam and experience the atmosphere of cycle races in the beautiful countryside of Šumava. Everyone can enjoy a timed bike ride to the reconstructed Schwarzenberg Canal with a maximum length of 63 kilometers. “The event is open to all cyclists, regardless of their age, the type of bike they will be using and the difficulty of the route they will choose. Road bike, e-bike, mountain and city. All bikes and their owners are invited. There will be four aid stations on the course and it is perfectly secure in terms of safety and medical care,” Lipna’s spokeswoman explains the details Olga Kneiflova.

Even before the race, on Friday August 19, Lipno will belong to the little cyclists, for whom the Mini Bike Fest is prepared – a fun cycling event for children. The entire ČEZ Kolem Lipna cycling event will be complemented by a three-day cycling exhibition, and Olympic cross-country mountain bike winner Jaroslav Kulhavý has also promised to take part.

Concerts by Czech stars, summer cinema and the Orange Wheel charity

On Friday and Saturday, the ČEZ Energy Festivals will once again be the cultural stage for sports celebrations and will offer a total of 10 concerts by big names in Czech popular music. A total of four ČEZ Energy Fests are always waiting for you on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. The names of the artists will be announced soon. In addition to the concerts, you can also relax in the evening at the Flashlight Summer Cinema, which will again present cinematic delights. This time it will be the film The Last Race on August 16 and the film Zátopek on August 18, which received several awards from the Czech Lion and of which several key scenes were also shot in Lipno nad Vltavou.

The orange wheel of the CEZ group is ready for a good cause. What you step on is converted into a contribution to non-profit organizations that care for people with disabilities.
