The first 4.0 cloister in Milan, eco-sustainability and technology a few steps from San Vittore – idealista / news

As part of the sustainability of Open House Milano, idealista / news visited the first Cloister 4.0 of the city of Milan. It is a residential, eco-sustainable and technological complex that occupies an entire block a stone’s throw from San Vittore prison, where a children’s home used to be.

This area – explain to idealista / news Andrea Lapasini, architect of DFA Partners – historically it was the victim of the bombings of the Second World War – and the pre-existing building, which belonged to a religious institute and was intended for the reception of young people, it was in a state of disrepair.

The project is characterized by the construction of increasing volumes as one moves away from the walls of the nearby prison, in compliance with a constraint of 1870, and develops around a 1,280 square meter internal green lung overlooked by five villas arranged linearly and 27 apartments of different sizes.

The vegetation is indeed the predominant element of the residential complex which, in addition to the courtyard, is declined in “green roofs” and is deployed on the private patios and terraces in a crescendo of natural spaces integrated into the building.

“We are talking about sustainable architecture – continues Lapasini – not only for technologies and choice of materials: We have been very careful on this point because the production of hot and cold water, for example, is carried out using geothermal systems, with exit prices and yield wells, or even photovoltaics. But the question of sustainability is also linked to the space where you live and in this context, green is of fundamental importance. Not only in condominium spaces, but also in private spaces. For us, each residential unit must have exterior rooms, which complement the architecture itself “

“We are careful that fifth elevation of architecture: it is the view from above and therefore these green spaces that contribute to the sustainability of the project, contribute to microclimates that can be created in the city, besides being nice to see for those with views from above “
