Young representative Violeta Mitulová, who made forty starts for the national team during her career, will no longer increase this figure. According to Icelandic newspaper Visir, police received a report of a woman who fell from a cliff in the port of Vopnafjörður. Emergency services were immediately sent to the scene, but upon arrival they could only declare Mitulová dead.

“The Football Federation of Moldova is saddened by the news that one of the best players of the women’s national team. Violeta Mitulová suffered a tragic accident while hiking in the mountains with her teammates.” said a statement from the Moldovan Football Federation.

Her current team, Einherji Vopnafjörður, to which she transferred this spring, also commented on the death of Violeta Mitulová. Before that, she also wore the jerseys of Italian Apulian Trani and Spanish La Solana.
