This afternoon it is time for the Swedish men’s national beach handball team to enter the EC tournament in Portugal. Spain is waiting first and Ukraine later. All tournament matches are broadcast on Viaplay.

Today the Beach Handball EC starts in Portugal and for Sweden two tough matches await you. At 2:00 p.m. they face Spain – a team that Sweden have never beaten – and at 6:00 p.m. Ukraine are the opposition. Tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Sweden will play the four-man World Cup against Greece. The top two teams from each group advance to the main round.

– There are several experienced players who have played a decisive role in the national team for many years, these players will have an important task to lead and support the young players who are lucky enough to make their league debut at senior level, says national team captain Heléne Bernhardtz on the national handball team website.

This is the tenth time that the Swedes have taken part in the beach handball EC. The best finish was in 2017 when it was fifth, but at the 2018 World Championships Sweden finished fourth and at the 2019 Beach Olympics they were bronze.
