Sweden is ready for the CE U18 final. That’s clear after beating Hungary 33-30 in the semi-finals.

– I feel immense pride and joy. The boys did very well, says national team captain Björn Sätherström National handball team.

For the fourth time in its history, Sweden is ready for the EC U18 final. In today’s semi-final, Hungary were beaten 33-30, but it wasn’t without a lot of struggle.

Sweden got off to a good start and led 7-5 shortly after halftime. But a more difficult period was announced when Hungary scored four consecutive goals. An advantage they kept until the half-time whistle (16-15).

But like so many times in the past, Sweden can never be ruled out. The deficit turned into a lead and the blues and yellows were rock solid when it all had to be decided. The match ended 33-30 and the Swedish team was left in a heap of joy after the final whistle. The best in blue and yellow was Axel Månsson, who with his seven goals was named player of the game.

– Our scale is a major success factor. We are at the end of the tournament and many teams and players are starting to tire. But we show that we still have the strength to decide. All the actors know their role and accept it. We have loyalty to each other and a sense of security in the group, says Sätherström National handball team.

Sweden’s opponent will be determined later in the evening, with Germany and Spain battling it out for the final spot.

The last time blue and yellow made the CE final was in 2018, then it was gold. Is it still Sunday?

– Considering the form we are in, we are optimistic. Anything can happen in a final, says Sätherström National handball team.

Sweden’s top scorers: Axel Månsson 7, Linus Gustavsson 6, Pelle Segertoft 3, Albin Hägglund Junler 3, Arvid Boquist 3, Elias Lundstad 2, Jonathan Andersson 2, Marcus Björkman 2, Noah Martinsson, Theodor Uliana Starck, Love Sundewall, Rasmus Lenzi
