In the fight for the semi-finals, Sweden today won a very important victory against neighboring Denmark. The match ended 32-29 after ten goals from Axel Månsson.

Sweden entered the first round of the main round knowing that a win was needed in today’s match, to have a chance of taking one of the semi-final spots. On the other side, there was Denmark, which was in the same situation – win, or the championship is over.

It was our neighboring country that dominated the first half. The lead fluctuated between three and one goal, and blue and yellow were constantly forced to chase. Hjalte Lykke scored the last goal of the half and the scoreboard showed 17-15 for Denmark.

The second half picked up pretty much where the first left off. Denmark were in control and in control of the game. But the Swedes did not give up. With twenty minutes remaining, Marcus Björkman made it 22-21 and Sweden were in the lead for the first time since the second minute of the game.

The first goal was exactly what the Swedish confidence needed, because suddenly blue and yellow grew and took over the game. Axel Månsson scored three consecutive Swedish goals in the final minutes and secured the final score 32-29.

Månsson was really in the mood to play today when he hit ten full hits.

Today’s win means Sweden still have a chance of reaching a semi-final, but still need to win tomorrow’s game against Norway.
