A busy handball Wednesday awaits us. The Swedish club team’s season starts with the Swedish Cup, the European U18 Championship enters the final stage of the main round and the World U18 Championship will be decided by a final and a match for the bronze medal.

The Swedish Cup – the favorites enter the tournament

Today the season finally begins for some of our Swedish club teams. The first round of the Swedish Cup is here and four teams enter the tournament tonight. At 6:00 p.m., Skånela face the toughest possible opposition at Sävehof, at home at Vikingahallen. The Gothenburg team are the defending champions and certainly want to win the title again this year.

“We don’t know today which team our opponents will come to the Vikingahallen with, but either way it will be interesting to see how our lads can withstand this tough opposition. Skånela’s men have had a pre-season start. -difficult season after the summer break with an intensive three-day camp at home, then a training match against their league colleague Tyresö Handboll”, writes Skånela on the website.

An hour later, at 7:00 p.m., the match between Lindesberg and Ystads IF begins. And if Skånela faces the toughest possible opposition, the same can be said of Lindesberg. Ystads IF became Swedish champions last year and now they are aiming for their first cup title.

U18 WC – WC Final and Swedish Classification Match

Today, the World Under-18 Championship will consist of a final, a match for the bronze medal and classification matches. The Swedish ladies impressed in the match against Egypt and today they have the chance to secure fifth place in the tournament. On the other side, France, which has five wins and two losses in the bag.

In the final, our Danish neighbors will be hoping the super talented Julie Scaglione will lead Denmark to a World Cup gold medal. But it won’t be easy. On the other side are the speedy South Koreans, who knocked out Sweden in the quarter-finals. However, Denmark must agree to enter the final with a favourite. Scaglione is also fourth in the goalscoring league, just four goals behind leader Andela Zagar, so perhaps there will be some doubles for the 17-year-old tonight.

– It is always instructive for our young players to be part of a CM final, where there is maximum sporting and media pressure. But to do it against South Korea, who have become the crowd favorite here and are playing at a much higher pace than what we are used to, will be very rewarding for women’s development, says the team captain Danish national, Flemming Dam Larsen. the association’s website.

U18-EC – Sweden aims for the semi-finals

Sweden’s fate in the EC will be decided tonight at 6:00 p.m. If you win against Norway, you take one of the places in the semi-finals, if the blues and yellows lose, you are eliminated. Norway is in the same position as Sweden, so a tough and nervous battle awaits between the neighboring countries. Blågult, however, have a better goal difference than Norway, so can manage with a draw. In the same group, Spain is already ready for the semi-finals, and today meets an already eliminated Denmark.

In Group A, Hungary are ready for the semi-finals and today face Croatia, who have no chance of qualifying from the main round. In the match between Portugal and Germany, both teams are aiming for a place in the semi-finals. For Germany, a draw is enough, as they have a better goal difference than Portugal.
