Billiards: Torbjörn Blomdahl – global star of “the most difficult ball sport in the world”

Slightly older audiences probably remember billiards star Torbjörn Blomdahl who frequently appeared on television in the 80s and 90s.

In fact, he should have already stopped at the age of 40, almost 22 years ago, but he recently won his 31st gold medal in SM.

– It was a hope. But no other work then appeared. So I continued for a few more years. But now one hand is starting to shake a little, so now it probably won't take many years, Torbjörn Blomdahl, now 61, tells SVT Sport.

“Everything is difficult”

And it is precisely this difficulty that pushes him to remain one of the best in the sport.

– The Trevallars are so incredibly difficult that I'm still learning things and finding new variations of a stroke, he says.

50 years of career

Torbjörn Blomdahl has been playing billiards for 50 years. In all his years as a professional, he has a one-of-a-kind track record. Six gold medals in the World Championship, eleven gold medals in EC, 31 gold medals in SM and eleven overall victories in the World Cup.
