The deaf campers enjoyed a week full of fun in Liberec

This year’s 8th year was named Summer without Borders and a total of 17 children aged 5-13 participated. The aim of the camp was to connect the world of hearing with the seemingly quiet world of deaf children and to lead children to tolerance and attention in a pleasant form of experience.

Throughout the camp he provided sign language interpretation for deaf children to spend a week of fun and knowledge in the same way and with the same intensity as their listening friends. The children with the camp visited the ZOO and iQLandia in Liberec, made a trip to the production of wooden toys in the company Detoa and enjoyed an active day in the happy countryside entertainment area.

In addition to excursions, excursions and games, the program of this camp was enriched with the teaching of sign language and the acquaintance with the culture of the deaf. The children thus became acquainted with the basics of sign language in a playful and natural way and the reward was the communication with their new deaf friends, which brought joy to both parties.

Thanks to the financial support of the company Hokami CZ, we were able to give children with special needs the necessary individual approach and care at the camp. I also thank the elementary school and the speech therapy kindergarten in Liberec, which provided the camp with facilities on its premises.

We are glad that we were able to spend an interesting week with the children again, and at least make a small contribution to removing the communication barriers that stand between the hearing and the deaf…
