CDP, TIM, Leonardo and Sogei launch national cloud proposal

(Teleborsa) – Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (via the CDP Equity subsidiary), Leonardo, Sogei e TIM jointly submitted, as promoter, to the Minister of Technological Innovation and Digital Transition (MITD) a Public-private partnership proposal for the creation of the National Strategic Pole (PSN), a ‘infrastructure for cloud management of public administration data and applications (PA), which is part of the overall plan to accelerate digital transformation to guarantee the security and control of national data.

The initiative – reads the joint note – provides, in the event of award to the promoter and following a call for tenders launched by the Public Administration, the creation of a NewCo with a participation of 20% by CDP, 25% by Leonardo, 10% by Sogei and 45% by TIM. The goal is provide innovative services to citizens and businesses, in line with the provisions of the PNRR and recent regulatory interventions on digital infrastructures. The project consists of the provision of cloud solutions and services in support of the AP in order to ensure the highest possible level of efficiency, security and reliability of data.

The submission of the proposal by the promoter, when it is considered interesting, will allow the PC to initiate a public tender in a short time. In particular, the Public Administration must examine the proposal within three months of its receipt and, in the event of a positive evaluation, will launch the call for tenders in which, in addition to the promoter, all operators likely to be interested may participate. . .

If awarded to the promoter, the new company will acquire the industrial skills necessary for the provision of services (also by acquiring them from its shareholders) and will make the investments necessary for the construction of the technological infrastructure.

In this context, the joint initiative of CDP, Leonardo, Sogei and TIM was born through a public-private partnership whose mission will be to encourage and accelerate technological innovation and the security of public infrastructures.

Key economic operators will be involved in the project in the field of technological and digital services with the aim of pooling the best skills and the most advanced national and international technologies, also using the collaboration of Cloud service providers and primary technology providers, which will be managed according to the principles of sovereignty provided for by law.

Concretely, as industrial partners: TIM, leader in Italy in the ICT sector, it will provide infrastructure services and cloud platforms; Leonardo, one of the main global players in the AD&S sector and the only Italian company dedicated to the supervision of strategic technologies for the country’s security, provide security services‘; Sogei, leader and partner of the ICT public sector, provide accreditation and training services for corporate culture promote the growth and skills of PA; CDP Equity will act as financial partner and institutional investor which supports initiatives with important development prospects in key sectors for the country.

Together, the industrial partners will provide end-to-end migration services, as well as support to PAs with professional evolution services to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in cloud environments (re-platform and re-architecture).

The PSN will be equipped, via the partners, with a new generation data center (Tier IV), with high levels of security and energy efficiency, and in line with global best practices (four data centers in two regions); it will also provide comprehensive and advanced services, with a particular focus on cloud solutions. The PA will be assisted in all the pre and post contract membership phases, also in terms of staff training.
