Halloween Event: Sudbury Musicians Do Halloween Bash

There will be prizes for the best costumes, Halloween drink specials and more during the October 30 show

As the Halloween spirit kicks in and the excitement around the return to live music mounts, a group of Sudbury musicians of various styles have hosted a special Halloween party at Sudbury’s Spacecraft Brewery.

This Saturday October 30th brings a delicious medley of musical delights: new rock/soul/funk outfit Harvey King & The Grindstone; rap group Magick Show; indie/electronic/alt. pop project The 555; and veteran Sudbury rapper Johnny Bizness.

Plans include prizes for the best costumes, Halloween drink specials, and more. Tickets are currently on sale for $15 in presale at Event Brite, and will go up to $20 at the door.

Headlining the night is the brand new buzzing Sudbury band Harvey King & The Grindstone.

The band is an all-star cast of Sudbury players, including vocalist Will Himsl.

“We are incredibly grateful to be playing in a new location with old friends… no tricks, just treats!” said Himsl.

The group is a six-piece group that plays a distinctive mix of rock, soul and funk. Their 2021 four-track EP release, Bigtime, showcases the bands’ northern ‘rock n’ soul’ roots and serves as a teaser for their full-length album, which is expected to be released in 2022.

The 555 is a multi-genre project originating from Sudbury. Their live shows are a unique experience as they perform live electronic beats without computers, instead opting to play synthesizers, samplers and drum machines live.

This special edition will feature a brand new lineup as the 555 welcomes guitarist Scott Richman to the fold. One thing is certain: expect something new, something exciting and something different.

Magick Show is a horrorcore rap project/duo from Sudbury, who released their debut album Dark Night of the Soul exactly one year before this event – on “devil’s night” 2020 (Hand’Solo Records). Fans of hard-hitting, energetic rap music are guaranteed thrills and shivers.

The debut, Dark Night of the Soul, features contributions from Juno-winning rapper Moka Only (Swollen Members), Juno-nominated producer Fresh Kils, Will Himsl of Harvey King & The Grindstone and more. Magick Show brings the perfect chilling atmosphere for Halloween.

Also featured will be Sudbury rap artist Johnny Bizness, who will perform a mini set of exclusive new material from his upcoming record. The resident DJ will spin a specially curated selection of Halloween party jams between bands.

This special night of terror and fun takes place at Spacecraft Brewery (the former bus station on Notre Dame Avenue). As a bar/restaurant, the indoor venue is subject to provincial vaccine requirements.

Outdoor seating may also be available (ask directly with the venue).

Tickets and more information are available at the event’s Facebook page.
