The Škoda Enyaq is now part of the collections of the National Technical Museum

It is a tradition at the National Technical Museum to exhibit cars by Mladá Boleslav. Škoda Auto’s predecessor, Laurin & Klement, was already a traditional partner.

“It should be remembered that one of the founders of the current Škoda Auto company, Václav Klement, donated not only his personal records relating to the company to our museum in the 1930s, but also the first car that ‘he produced in Mladá Boleslav in 1906. The construction of this building also donated one million pre-war crowns, ”explains Karel Ksandr, director general of the National Technical Museum.

“If we remember our older history, we come to a kind of Adalbert Fingerhut, known as Vojta Náprstek, who founded the first Czech technical museum,” continues Karel Ksandr. The thimble of its technical museum brought together the most modern equipment of the time, such as a pedal-operated sewing machine or Papin’s pot. “In his mind, we also collect current models,” adds Ksandr.

The Enyaq iV will also become a historic car for future generations. But now it is one of the most modern. This is the first car in the Czech Republic manufactured on a special MEB electric platform.

“For us, this is a special model, because the electric era of Škoda is beginning,” explains Štěpán Řehák, spokesperson for the brand.

The car on display has an 82 kWh battery, with a range of 525 kilometers. It can be charged from 5 to 80% in less than 40 minutes.

The automaker already has 70,000 orders for the model, mainly in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Czechs are also showing interest in electric cars, according to Štěpán Řehák. “But they get to know electric cars more slowly. In our country, the transition to electric cars will still take time,” he said.
