“He was the best role model I could have.”

In the podcast Just a little fishy which is a program led by Eminem's girl Hailey Jadeopens Nathan “Nate” Mathers talk about the relationship with his older brother Marshall Mathersbetter known by the stage name Eminem.

Nate explains that he can understand people who speculate about their lives, based on many of the artist's lyrics, and elaborates:

– He was the best role model I could have had to help me become the father I am today, says Nate, and continues to talk about the early years of Eminem's career:

– I started to understand a little more how real it was when I saw it on TV and all the crazy people wanted autographs at the concerts. I was like, “Okay…this is real.”

Nate also says that Eminem's success inspired him to start writing himself and that he learned how to write sentences and put syllables together from his brother.

– From there, I started looking for rhythms and getting familiar with my own voice, he continues.

Mathers goes on to say that he is aware of the risk of being compared to his older brother, but that it was never about that, but about creating something that people enjoy.
