Prague, August 12, 2022 (PROTEXT) – Hollywood celebrities, athletes, successful businessmen or members of royal families. They all fell in love with horse polo and enjoy both the beauty of the horses and the skill of the players by watching it, as well as interesting business opportunities. The Progresus group, which has become a long-time partner of Czech horse polo, wants to show the advantages of this game to the general public. The first major Progresus Prague Beach Polo tournament will start this Friday August 12 in the prestigious Chuchle Arena and will last until Sunday August 14.

Building long-term partnerships has become the cornerstone of Progresus Invest Holding. The owners of this young investment group have decided to support both Czech culture, which has found itself in a difficult situation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as this sport which is currently quite unusual in Czech conditions – polo on horseback.

“Prague Beach Polo is taking traditional horse polo from the lawn to the sand for the first time! Our projects combine the traditional with innovation and progress, I think that’s what we have in common with this event. We believe that horse polo, which is particularly popular in Anglo-Saxon countries, will conquer more Czechs”, says Lukáš Zrąst, co-founder of the investment group Progresus, and of course he and other business partners will admire the game with their own eyes this weekend.

One of the most important personalities of this sport in the country is Jan Průcha, vice-president of the Czech Association of Horse Polo Players. “Organizing a tournament on the first-class course of Chuchla in Prague has been my dream since I organized the first event in Pardubice three years ago. The Vítkov family managed to build a first-class facility for competitions in parkour in the Chuchla Arena in Prague, and it is on this course of a dimension of 100×60 meters, that the players will present themselves on the weekend. In addition to the Czech team, foreign teams and nearly thirty of horses will take part in the tournament, the total value of which will be in the millions of crowns. To see something like this in Prague is so unique that only horse lovers should not miss this opportunity.” says tournament organizer Jan Průcha about the Progresus Prague Beach Polo Weekend.

The history of horse polo dates back to the period of ancient Persia. It is normally played on a grass pitch measuring 274×146 meters, where two teams of four compete and attempt to score the ball into the opponent’s goal using long bats. However, with few exceptions, such large pitches do not exist in our country, so it is often played in smaller arenas, having a sandy or snowy surface and a larger ball size. And although the players themselves prefer the game on a large field, the spectators, on the other hand, benefit from closer contact with the horses and the players in the arenas.
