The Swedish Cup – Chance for more clashes?

It’s time for handball teams Hammarby and Kristianstad to enter the Swedish Cup, and they do so as first-round favourites. Boden and Drott represent resistance.

Hammarby must travel the over 900 kilometer route to Boden to play in the Swedish Cup first round. Boden, who normally plays in Division 1, has a tough game ahead of him to say the least – but perhaps we can take some inspiration from Lindesberg’s heckling earlier this week?

Hammarby enters the game as a strong favorite, but still assures fans that there is no risk of underestimation.

– I think Lindesberg showed the other day that it’s quite dangerous not to take these matches seriously. We did the usual, tried to find information and tried to prepare for training the way they play, explains the team coach, Patrik Fahlgren, to Hammarby’s website and carry on :

– Who is on the other side is really not very careful and in addition, in section it is a little tricky with the shots on goal. If you are trailing 6-0 at the start and you play a little badly, it is a rather difficult result.

Considerably further south, more precisely about 1400 kilometers away, the second game of the Swedish Cup is played today. HK Drott invites IFK Kristianstad to the first competitive match of the season. Like Hammarby, IFK Kristianstad are big favorites when they meet Allsvenskan team HK Drott.

– Each opponent must be respected, you saw it in particular during the match between Ystad IF and LIF Lindesberg when Ystad lost. It’s our first competitive game, so it’s important to give 100% on Sunday, says Stian Tönnesen at IFK Kristianstad website and carry on :

– We think first of all about ourselves, that’s the number one objective. We will do well on Sunday.

The matches of the day in the Swedish Cup:

15:00 Boden – Hammarby
16:00 HK Drott – IFK Kristianstad
