– This agreement allows the regions to further build their supply readiness of critical medicines and medical devices, which is of great importance in the event of a crisis, said Rachel De Basso (S), chair of the SKR care delegation, in a press release.

According to Health Minister Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD), crisis preparedness needs to be built on the basis of long-term conditions so that it “becomes part of healthcare operations and provides robust inventory in everyday life”.

The idea is that the regions will ensure access to an extensive range of priority medicines within hospital care for care that cannot be used for at least a month, the press release states. This was presented by the National Board of Health and Welfare earlier this year a list about both medicines and medical devices that are necessary for care that cannot be achieved and that list must be the starting point for the planning of the regions, the cabinet writes.

The press release also states that the cabinet and SKR may make more agreements in the course of 2023 and 2024 in the same area.
