A good Christmas gift idea could be to surprise someone with the latest edition of Strömsboken, published very recently. A great read with many events that people can relate to.

The latest Strömsboken has now been published and the Hembygdsföreningen editorial group has, as usual, done a fantastic job of collecting events that happened around 30 years ago.

Björn Hjortling has among others who, a few decades ago, was a police officer in Strömsund and had to pass on to foreign services memories of his job as a police officer and of course his great involvement both in the IFK and in the creation of the Lajbanerna youth center.

We can also read about Conny Sjöbergs great interest for radio amateurs who send Christmas greetings to people around the world via wireless radio. The club was established in 1978 and eventually connected with like-minded people in China.

And then we have Knut Klefboms looking back at the time, there was a donkey on the other side of the Näsviken anchor bridge, which was an attraction. Additionally, heading towards Bredkälen and a property teeming with rabbits caused great concern, especially among hare hunters in the area, such as when Lennart Salomonsson was out hunting and the dog picked up something that “didn’t” was not “a hare.

Another laughable read It was then that they had organized an ice hockey “friendly match” where Slocknade stjörnär would face the Strömsund hockey team. But it didn’t turn out to be so friendly as it was said that “the blouse was in the air” and the match ended in a victory for the Extinguished Stars.

Some extracts from a wonderfully relaxing reading carried out by the editorial board which put heart and soul, quite voluntarily, into Sola and Kerstin Mårtensson, Ronald Ragnvaldsson, Rolf Lindgren and Kurt Eriksson.

The entire surplus from the book goes to the Hembygdsförening in Strömsund and can also be purchased at the office there.
